R. Austin Freeman (1862-1943) was a medical practitioner forced to retire in 1904 because of ill health. He wrote many novels and short stories, some with other authors.
The Unwilling Adventurer is the story of a young man who was accused of murder, press-ganged, marooned, forced to serve on a pirate ship and on a slave-trader, rescued by a lawyer, and married to his childhood sweetheart.
