Yeah I know the Kindle uses the Mobi format but it's that or PDF to chose from. I keep an original with all the versions in my Calibre library and that's the main reason why I want that to be the master.
In an ideal world the Calibre library and Kindle Cloud would be mapped 1:1, including bundles (as collections) etc. but that doesn't seem reasonable to wish for.

Yeah, that's a great feature! I actually often buy epub versions on my iOS device, download it, convert it with
The Ebook Converter and send it to the Kindle. Then when I'm back at my computer I import the downloaded epub to the Calibre library. A bit of a hassel but it works.

Wow, thanks for your input. Sadly that's way too much work for my taste.
The actual whispersync isn't my biggest issue since when I start to read a book I read it in the Kindle app or on the Kindle itself and if the book comes from Kindle Cloud (like I'm looking for) it syncs automatically.
The main issue for me is probably more related to my personality and desire to have a better overview. It bugs my mind to have some books in Calibre, some books on my iPad, some books on the Kindle and some in Kindle Cloud. Just imagine adding Apple Books to this equation. :I
