From the follow-up article, it looks like only Penguin Audio have been on Scribd, not e-books, but that they will also be removing those around mid-Feb. I don't know who owns Scribd, it doesn't matter to me the CEO's name, but I don't believe Amazon has a percentage of ownership.

As for Unlimited, that's a different debate. I am in Facebook fan groups for several independent authors who have used it for years and enjoy it. It doesn't work out for all of them as well, but it's helped a few get a small fan base. As a reader, on my end it's a good deal.
