new kindle paperwhite not recognized by calibre

Hello, as suggested by kovidgoyal, after trying all hints I decided to post my debug log.
I just installed calibre 3.21 on linux mint 19 (Tara).
When I connect my kindle paperwhite via USB, the disk is automatically mounted and I can browse the files. Unmounting the device (as suggested) does not help. The kindle is not in airplane mode. I don't know the device's version, I bought it one month ago.
