For her to be in a private room, the family must pay the difference, about $525 per month. There are 4 siblings living, with the deceased brother having made arrangements for $200 a month to continue to his mom. So $325 I think to split 4 ways. Except the oldest sister, who just remarried (a rather wealthy man) says she can't help.
It won't prevent everyone else from helping, but this sister has always been all about the money. She doesn't have a lot of money, but she did buy a house, is on disability, worked 2 jobs the past 10 years or so, and is now in a really good place with the new hubby. They are buying a house in Florida so they can live there 5 months, and here the other 7.
But she can't afford to help pay under $100 a month so her elderly mom can be in a private room.

My grandmother's care was $8900/month. Tell her she should be
bloody grateful that that's all it is.
