Yes actually. The factory reset causes the Kindle dx click to set to 1970 and that makes the Kindle unable to register with Amazon as the Amazon servers refuse connection and issuing the certificates needed. You need to jailbreak the Kindle (information here in forum) and then install the USB network mode (dito). That then is activated by hitting DEL on home screen and in the search box entering
;debugOn (return)
`usbmode (return, careful, that is not a single quotation mark but a `)
;debugOff (return)
Then plug the Kindle back into the PC with cable. It will not show up anymore as drive but if you click on windows 10 on the network symbol on the task bar it will show a new network, not wifi, that is unidentified. Click that and set the ip of that to 196.168.2.1. Then download Putty and select telnet plus as ip 196.168.2.2 (NOT 1) and load. It will open a screen "welcome to kindle" so you are now logged into your kindle dx system.
Type:
date -s 'MMDDhhmm 2020'
(this is single quotation marks, MM is the current month, DD the day, hh the hour in 24h format, mm the minutes), hit return.
Your kindle will have the time reset to the current time.
Now unplug the Kindle and restart the kindle from the settings screen to switch off USB network mode again and your kindle will register etc.
