Sony wrecked minidisc, especially for laptop use with their stupid lockdown. Also their MG flash cards, removal of Linux from PS/*. Because they are Media/Publisher, their formats and HW are broken with DRM obsession.
Amazon is a retailer and datahosting provider. They also are obsessive on DRM, even adding it when the publisher says no.
Both are really bad examples.
Because Barnes & Noble is a bookseller, they obsessed with DRM on Nook. Changed it that bought books were on a hidden partition? What's open about them?
