Work-wise I'm not feeling very motivated for the next couple of days.

Those last days of the Christmas vacation are my least favourite. You get a lot of kids that are fed up with being dragged along with their parents. Parents are fed up with correcting their kids and get upset when you ask them to keep an eye on them or you when you ask their kids to behave.

People also get upset that we don't do repairs throughout the day, only during consulting hours. They want to get the thing looked at before the end of the vacation, I can understand that. But it's not realistic to expect a STORE to do repairs all day every day. They usually get upset that they came all the way from Wherever for nothing.

Then there are the items that run out. Most supplier are closed during the weeks of Christmas and New Year, most of them do inventory. We always try to stock up on items, but we have limited storage space. Add to that that supplier don't tend to get new stock in in December, because of inventory (if they have less stock it's less work). Supplies get back to normal from mid January onwards.

So, for various reason, tempers can run high. On the other hand, when it's busy time goes by quickly. Hopefully it isn't too busy to have lunch, if I don't have lunch I tend to start getting hangry by 4pm.

Just three more days of chaos, then next week things are getting normal again. It'll still be busy, but most with businesses having a new budget and/or having time to get chores done. After that I go on my annual Reading Retreat week.
