There a parts of the U.S. that do not have Whispernet coverage, yet there are Kindle owners in those parts of the coverage. The Kindle does not need to be remotely initialized by Whispernet. We do have MR members living outside of the U.S. who own and use Kindles.

There seem to be quite a number of people who want to own Kindles. Some are willing to jump through hoops. Many ask when it will be available in their country. Some are upset that it isn't available in their country.
