thank you ! I got it to work easily from the command prompt. God knows why the gui is so ridiculously stupid and confusing.
ebook-convert [full path ]fromfile.ext [full path]tofile.ext
where the extension drives the conversion time as in
ebook-convert C:\tempdir\eebaum-wizardofoz.mobi C:\tempdir\eebaum-wizardofoz.txt
nice and easy. why the gui makes this so difficult is an exercise of over-engineering.
