If you're only interested in accessing the content of related books, and their aren't many of them, you could use a long text column with HTML file URIs to the other book folders. The long text editor link tool has a browse button to create the "file:\\\blah-blah" links. See attachment
Unfortunately you must browse to a file, I like to open the book folder when I click on the Link, so I chop off the file part of the path.
The Link will break if you change the book's Title or Author.
