I get your point on that. I'm just tired of the argument that "you must be doing something wrong if you want privacy." No, I just feel it's my right to keep others out of my business. As far as signing up for Amazon or Kobo and giving up certain rights, I see both sides of that argument. I see no problem with "opting out" but (in this case) what they're monitoring is no big deal to me (personally). I don't feel the same about the Amazon Echo or the Google counterpart. I simply don't want these in my house.
