My rationale for all my Roku TVs is that
1. They have proven to get updates and stay supported longer than many Roku stand-alone devices, so it appears they build in at least a little future-proofing capacity to the RokuTVs.

2. Assuming the displays themselves last longer than the support of the built-in smart features (sadly, by no means a certainly in the era of unrepairable , disposable goods) I could always plug in a new device and forget about the built-in stuff.

3. The Roku feature tends to only add a couple of bucks to the price of set, and when there's a sale, they could be even less, so why not. it's one less device, cable, power supply and remote to deal with. At least for a while.
