My Oasis 2 on 5.12.2 also has issues. Even books that never caused problems before. Happened after the update and Kindle wanted to do some font updates. Guess it didn't made the changes to the custom font I had. I ended up, after too many freezes, just getting rid of the custom fonts. Didn't have a problem since. Maybe it will work removing the custom fonts, restarting once or twice, and putting them back? Try if that helps, I am no longer fiddling around with it. Falling back to Caecilia Condensed, which works just fine for me
