I just got a Kindle 1 and am loving it. But when I thought to look for some my favorite reads of all time, I was disappointed. These are older books, including A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole, The Executioner's Song, by Norman Mailer, The Fan Man, by William Kotzwinkle, and Sometimes a Great Notion, by Ken Kesey. Maybe it's saving me money because I have the hard copies, except for Sometimes a Great Notion, which I loaned to a neighbor who then moved away (another plus for the Kindle).
I found a pdf of A Confederacy of Dunces online and it now resides on my Kindle, my first conversion through Amazon's Kindle email. Today I purchased Kesey's One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and Truman Capote's In Cold Blood in the Kindle Store.
I hope everyone here routinely clicks on the link provided for seemingly every nonKindle book in the regular Amazon bookstore, "I'd like to read this book on Kindle". Amazon forwards the request to the publisher. Please include those named above.
