I heartily recommend sweet potato pie for your Christmas dinner, in lieu of pumpkin pie. Pumpkin pie is so much more bland. Sweet potatoes are, well, sweet and they're bursting with flavor. Make a sweet potato pie or two for Christmas dinner, and see if I'm not telling you the truth.

I don't know if you can get sweet potatoes in the produce section of stores outside of the deep South, if not you should be able to get them in cans in stores outside of the fringes of said region.

No, they're not authentic Pilgrim food (sweet potatoes came to the Americas via Africa), but we don't have to concern ourselves with that--remember: this will be _Christmas_ dinner, and not Thanksgiving dinner.
