Some of that UI is a rendering of the library’s web site. I suspect that if you had used a browser you might have seen a similar change. Also possible they are doing some sort of AB testing.
That said I haven’t used Overdrive for quite a while. Switched to Libby which seems mostly better IMO and I think it has more frequent updates.
Even so, it is not unusual to have to re-enter credentials after an app update (annoying, but not unusual). If you’re curious you could see if that’s what triggered need to renter them by checking updates in Play Store.
