I'm talking about the 'plain' Nova. The main difference is that the Pro has a stylus and can be used for writing/drawing.
I was quite happy with my Mars when I first bought it. Once I bought my Nova, however, I rarely use my Mars.
The Nova outperforms the Mars. I once had the 2017 Oasis, and currently have an iPad Pro. For reading, I prefer the Nova to the iPad, although the iPad is quite good for reading. When using the Kindle app or the Nook app, the Nova is nearly as smooth as the Oasis. You can tweak optimization settings in the Nova firmware (in this case, Animation Filter) to improve smoothness and page-turning speed for each app individually. Moon Reader on the Nova is slightly quicker than either the Kindle or the Nook apps, and provides a smoothness quite similar to the Oasis. NeoReader, the native Onyx reading app, is good (much better than the Boyue native app, especially with pdfs), but is a tad less smooth than the others. Librera Pro takes longer to load, but the page-turning is smooth once the app is loaded.
I can't promise you that the Nova would meet your needs, but I would recommend that you check it out.
