This city particularly is a surprise in a bad way. The government has been testing on 10 acres in that region, a new insecticide for a bug that infests whole forests to death. This insecticide is laced with an arsenic compound and is injected at the base of the tree. The wood harvested will remain toxic. This could be a good reason to stay away from paper books, imagine licking your finger to turn a page!
Or if they made toilet paper from it by accident.
