No. Even if you have it set to "kobo" it won't upgrade yet. You'll need to set the affiliate to either beta, walmartca or bestbuyca to upgrade. Then, after the upgrade, just set it back to "nonsense" to keep control. I think this is the easiest and safest way to get the right firmware for your Kobo device.
This firmware release website will tell you what release of firmware six affiliates are currently using. Just go to the "Other Affiliates" tab for your device to find out which one is currently downloading the newest firmware.
