Sending the books to kobo is very easy if you have Android, just download the books on your phone, start an app / server on the phone (I used SimpleHttpServer) and using the kobo browser you can enter the server address and download what you want on your kobo with just one click.

I thought Google hampered the ability to run servers on later Android versions. I was almost resigned to having to do a DIY portable RasPi LAMP server. Now off to find a PHP server that will work on Oreo and Pie.
