To get back to the thread topic, the practical solution is:
  • Connect external battery or charger.
  • disable sleep (search on ~ds)
  • Forget cron and use an infinite loop with a 58 second sleep, then micro nano or whatever sleep until the next minute boundary. Tune to taste.
