Well, I registered the deivce to me on installation and it still says it is registered to me in the settings and on the amazon website. When I contacted amazon support and was in the chatline I received a message on my kindle that said "special offers are now disabled" - So I believe it is the latter. Probably because the kindle is now 4 years old (the girl I bought the kindle from also gave me the original delivery note from 2015). But I was unaware that special offers only appear after device registration.
I jailbroke the device a few days *after* the removal of special offers.

But when I do reset the device to factory defaults, am I not forced to register it online? When I received the PW3 it was reset to factory defaults and I was greeted with the "kindle setup" screen to register the device and there was no way (or at least apparent to me) to skip that process and use the device without a linked amazon account.
As for the jailbreak, I had to use the serial method to jailbreak my device because the device updated to 5.12.2 already - that means I had to open the device and connect to the serial TX/RX points to get shell access and run a shell script. Am I right In assuming that a factory reset will undo my jailbreak entirely? I.e. I have to open the device again and run the shellscript again?
