Each year, I set aside some of my credit card rewards money for a toy I don't need, but really want. This year I have some bonus free money I can add to the mix. Right now, its a tossup between two smartwatches for hiking: the Garmin Instinct ($189 at PX) and the Garmin fenix 5X ($299 at PX).
I’m not familiar with those models, but I’ve used a Garmin Vivosmart+ for a couple of years until the band broke a few months ago. The watch part still works fine, but the band is non-replaceable and thus rendered the watch into a paperweight! I tried superglue, but that didn’t hold. Garmin won’t replace it. Otherwise it was a good product. So be sure to check if those models have replaceable bands. If they don’t I would find other options.
