We had to use an epi pen last night on my granddaughter because of poor food labeling. She had almost immediate hives around her mouth, complaints of a scratchy throat, she vomited, (a good thing according to the doctor) and had a nose running like water from a faucet.
By the time we realized it was a reaction, it had been about an hour, fortunately getting sick was a very good thing. Multiple calls back and forth with their allergist, the epi pen with almost immediate results, kept us from having to do an ER run. (By this time a few hours had passed, and being out of town, the dr felt it was ok to not go the er after the quick improvement)
It's the first time they've needed to use the epi pen, since her first reaction at 11 months.
Breyer's French vanilla has egg yoke in it, but they don't call it out in the all caps of the allergens, how top 8 allergens are generally listed at the end of ingredient lists. We all 4 missed it, and felt horrible.
