Hello all, I have recently bought an iLiad (which still works fine *knocks on wood*) and I have been following the irex forum and this forum for awhile and finally decided to make a post so here I go.
I think we are barking at the wrong tree here. iRex only offers an eReader not ebooks.
Look how easy it was to make content for the iLiad by Manybooks.net ... so BAEN books or Fictionwise could easily offer their non drm content in PDFs for the iLiad.
Maybe its time to bark up on that tree...
Some iRex rep said on the iRex forum that one of the major ebook content providers would offer iLiad content in the near future (Mobipocket? they been in talks for awhile now) I assume that effort comes from Mobipocket and not iRex because I dont see iRex or Sony for that matter develope a viewer for each possible ebook type (Mobipocket; Msreader, ...). Thats why Sony made their own format (which i dont think is a good solution in LONG term).
What we really need is a common ebook format (like the mp3 for audio) but that seems to be an endless discussion and it looks like the publishers are missing the train soon if you see all the eReaders hitting the market.
I guess it will be up to the community
Anyway atm I am a very happy pirate (yes i get my ebooks via illegal channels); and I will continue to be untill ebooks are offered without DRM.
For those who crave to read any of the latest ebooks on the iLiad send me a pm and i'll mark the x on your map
