Of course, removing Adobe DRM from a book is simple, but, you need to do two download steps first. And you want to use ADE 2.0.somethingorother. DRM removal from later versions isn't possibe.
As to what ADE reports, I don't know. I don't remember any discussions about it, one way or the other.

So Kobo has gone to a different DRM for ADE? I am using ADE 4.5.x and am able to remove ADE DRM from books from other sources.
I also just tried an old purchase (re-downloaded it) with ADE 4.5. Before I strip the DRM, I can't read it with FBReader, after I strip the DRM, I can read it with FBReader.
There has been talk about ADE 4.x using a different DRM, but from what I've read (and just tried), it appears Kobo is using the older ADE DRM.
