Famous novel by Eric Knight (1897-1943), filmed in 1943 with a young Roddy MacDowell as the boy, and a young Elizabeth Taylor in a supporting role. Lassie was portrayed by a male dog named Pal, but credited as "Lassie".
The superb illustrations by Marguerite Kirmse are still copyright and have been omitted.
A very hard-up Yorkshire family sells their beloved dog "Lassie" to help make ends meet, but Lassie won't say sold. Much of the story is of her travels home from the north of Scotland.
And the correct title is "Lassie Come-Home", with the hyphen.
