When closed, the back is hard plastic, the front is rubbery plastic.
When open, the back is felt.
When open, the formerly front cover can be folded into a nice, stable, portrait oriented stand.
When the front cover is folded all the way to the back, the sleep switch is not accessible without lifting the cover. That was only rarely a problem for me in the 3 years that I used the cover. For the past 2 years I only use the Voyage at home, and it has not been in a cover during that time.
