Currently, all users can transfer the documents to there respective ereaders that are Sony PRS-T1 or T3 units.

A new ereader has been added, a Kobo Forma unit, and I seem to understand that I should upgrade to version 4.18 to be compatible to the Kobo unit and convert all epub books to the Kepub format.

My question is:
- Will the upgrade to version 4.18 on the maintenance PC change the ability of the other users, with older versions, to use the database?
- Do I need to convert epub books to the kepub format to have the Kobo Forma be able to read the books?
I think you have some version number confusion. There hasn't been a calibre 4.18 released yet. That is about 15 releases away. But, 4.18 is the current Kobo firmware version. Is that what you mean? If so, calibre supports it as of version 4.1. But, it is safe to use the "Attempt to support newer firmware" option in the driver with earlier versions of calibre. You won't be able to use the Forma with the calibre version 1.48 installation. There are changes in the database on Kobo devices that are not backwardly compatible to that version of calibre.
