You can use a fake email address that doesn't even work for Kobo registrations. The minimum for Amazon is a real working email address and an Amazon gift voucher to avoid giving them card/bank details. No address needed in either case. The ebook purchases on Kindle can be funded by gift vouchers.
Both ereaders can use out of copyright free books (might be over 70,000 PD, at least 10K "good ones") or books bought from Smashwords.

I do sometimes buy ebooks from Amazon, download to PC for USB transfer and use my kindle's serial number to read them on my Kobo or Sony ereaders via Calibre. Publishers can decide to be DRM free on Amazon, though Amazon "breaks" that with KFX.
