Looking at the font Charis SIL, version 4 had smaller spacing between the lines and version 5 has larger spacing between the lines. I don't know if this difference shows on a Kindle.
I have modified ChareInk so it has a smaller line height on a Kindle.
So yes, different fonts can have different line heights. Thw thing is, Kindles use different metadata in the fonts for the line height vs. RMSDK. Why, I have no idea.
