The Fire Tablet is a crippled Android tablet.
The main competitor to Amazon is Google*. They even fell out with Google pulling features from Amazon products because Google was unhappy with Amazon's store advert policies.

[* Cloud hosting, aka Rent a server like 1960s, the vast bulk of Amazon's income is now from hosting. The Fire TV stick competes with Google Chromecast but uses Google services!]
