An extremely salutary exercise that justifies counting it as a reduction! You learn a lot from that process, or at least I do, about the real value of bargains and the drawbacks of buying too far into the future.

This post made me consider how, although I've read 45 books from my TBR this year, that means that roughly two-thirds of my reading is from books I haven't bought. Library books, audiobooks, public domain. Yet another reason I shouldn't be purchasing!

I'm lucky in that respect, as I live alone during the work week and I don't watch television; i.e., I have my weeknight evenings to myself to read.
