I've had the Nova Pro for a month or so now - and LOVE it. Re the light gradients, if you've had a reader before, they're probably a little different...but overall a nice, mostly evenly distributed color and light level.
1. the variation of levels of light aren't quite as gradual in in-/decrease as I'd like (compared to my old Kindle Paperwhite), but with the option of modifying the warm/cool light colors, or even without, there are enough options to make it all work great.
2. In bright light, the light levels appear very even. I read a lot in the dark, so I *have* noticed a SMALL bit of uneven distribution around the bottom/side edge - but honestly absolutely nothing to write home about.
I'm super happy with my Nova Pro - both with the screen size, and many of the other options (seriously, taking notes on this thing is excellent).
