Since "Send to Kindle" doesn't work in Firefox I looked for a replacement, which was "Push to Kindle." Despite its name, Push to Kindle also allows you to save to ePub, mobi and PDF formats directly to your computer. Unfortunately that means you have to move it to your Kobo from Calibre (or just copy and paste). Its ePubs allow highlighting and annotations.
