Sorry for the necropost, but in case anyone is researching inverted light on Kobo or Kindle, you can turn off the white screen flash that occurs after every ten pages turns or so in Koreader. I don't know if you can do so in the standard Kindle or Kobo UI, but you can definately do so in Koreader, and it is essential as the flash is very jarring after the inverted text.
