I agree that you have to be in the right mood for Adams. I did find the first 3 or 4 chapters to be rough going, and the humor felt overdone and tedious. I was glad to put it aside while I was traveling and get back to it later. I then read it quickly and couldn't put it down.

I too found the Gordon Way plot to be less developed than I expected and somewhat unsatisfying. I think it's because I also thought he was going to save the day in a bigger way or they would go back in time and restore him to life. However I still enjoyed the book and found it fun.
