That's one of the nice things about the GPS and using one of the navigation programs, such as Apple Map or Google maps. Even if you don't have cell coverage, you still know where you are. You just can't get new directions. My sister lives in an area that has very poor cell coverage, with lots of holes in that coverage. I have to drive about a mile from her house before I can use my iPhone to make a call and that is with the carrier that has the best coverage in the area. Streaming music is impossible.
