In 1926 Aiden de Brune re-launched his writing career with this novel, published by Bookstall, an Australian pulp publisher. It is the only one of his full-length novels not published as a serial, and only one of two that appeared between covers. Henceforth his novels appeared as syndicated serials.
The dead body of an unidentified woman is found partly concealed in scubland in coastal suburban Sydney. The tale follows the criss-crossing adventures of a newspaper journalist, a police detective, and a girl ex-convict as they burrow into the mystery.
For this book, the publishers spelled the author's name "Aidan" de Brune. Some serials had it as "Aiden".
