Early on, it tracks very closely with Ruth Ware's Turn of the Key; of course they both are riffs on The Turn of the Screw. But having read Ware more recently than James, I kept seeing the similarities and wondering if Ware had read This House Is Haunted.

The audiobook narrator (Alison Larkin) was excellent.
