I think Sigrid Undset's Kristin Lavransdatter trilogy is wonderful, but there's an issue for those who don't read Norwegian. Obviously the recent translation will remain in copyright; the contemporary translation had two translators, one of whom, Arthur Clark, died in 1941, but I can't find the death date on the other, J.S. Scott.
