The Fire range are barely Android, really. They're Amazon's Android-based version of the iPad locked garden. The only Android maker I know of who really seems to be trying with tablets is Huawei, their MediaPads are premium devices that I have liked enough to buy two iterations of, despite their non-budget price. Samsung's lack of interest in making serious tablets can be seen from comparing their specs with the premium Huaweis. It's little wonder "iPad" has become the generic term for tablets, at least Apple cares enough to keep polishing the range.
