I have a recent Nokia 6 inch LCD display phone which I read on if wanted when out and about.
It is fine for reading but I normally read on a larger LCD tablet (currently 10.5 inch in 2 column mode) with my phone synced to that so that I can just pick up my book and current read position on either device.
(An aside: Nokia and a few others are in Google's Android One program which means they come clean with no phone manufacturer's applications or operating system modifications, and get monthly security and regular OS updates. Which I find a refreshing change after all the unremovable dross other phone manufacturers put on their phones.)
