And the squirrel? You gotta video that before you take his toy away. That's the cutest thing I've read in days. :-)

Congrats, kiddo. I'm really pleased for you. And I hope your uncle gets SLAMMED with the court costs, too!

Since August 2013, the lawyers got involved in November of that year.

I'm on vacation, so on my own until my sister visits on Saturday. I hardly ever do hooch. But when I go in town tomorrow or Friday, whenever it's dry for a couple of hours, I might get some.

All money claim, both ours and my uncle's have been turned down by court. Mind you, we wouldn't get it even if it was granted; my uncle simply hasn't got that type of money (which is why we hope he won't start an appeal, just starting is costs around €10000).

Either way SUPER happy for you guys! I hope you get damages from him - all of the legal fees seem like they would be enough to buy the house a few times over!
We still have to wait if my uncle want to take it further. Usually he's got 3 months to do so. We probably get permission by court to start the sales procedure before that (we had that with previous court cases, too), but if the verdict gets overturned you spend a lot of money on something that won't go through. So we'll wait and see.

It's a complicated case, or rather, cases. First, did he sell it legally to someone else when he has already promised to sell it to my father if he could find the money before a deadline. Then what did my grandmother, with Alzheimers, really want for her children. After she died it also became about the will. And lets not forget the whole thing about my uncle's conservatorship: did the judge oversee it properly and why won't he hand over his administration (we now know, from the bits he did give, that he used my grandmother's money for his own gain, such as insurances and sex dating sites). So now we're six years on, having spend a lot of money and we're at the same point and same sales price. What a waste of time and money.

About the squirrel. I tried taking off the bell with the screwdriver on my Swiss army knife, but it was too tight. Since then it's been quiet. If the playful squirrel comes back I'll try to film it, though they are very skittish. After that I'll tie my bandana around it to it can't ping anymore.
