So I've had a few days with the Nova Plus, and I have to say the hardware is
really nice!
Battery time is excellent, I've read several hundred pages of manga over several hours and the battery dropped by maybe 20%, with frontlight at ⅓ and wifi set to automatically turn off after 5 minutes (very useful feature).
Buuuut… I've also had two crashes (once when rotating a document, once when reflowing), and the UI is
pretty bad. I expected a few poorly translated words, but there's at least one app (the wifi transfer web interface) that isn't translated
at all?
And the custom crop options… yikes!
You have to tap "Navigation Mode" -> "More settings" to get there.
Then you get a super fiddly crop UI that takes 2-3 tries to get anything done. And half the time it doesn't do what you want it to. There is no way to
undo anything as far as I can tell.
Once you get it set up how you like it and go back to the document, it shows navigation buttons on the lower left of the screen. You can deactivate them. But they come back every time you change the crop settings. Wait, I mean
redo the crop settings. You can't
change them, because as soon as you get to the "More settings" screen, it resets back to default.
*sighs* This is pretty bad!
I might have to return it
