I'm sitting here slightly shaking.
Just over a month ago the court was to decide *something* in our current Family Thing court case. But the only thing that was decided was that the decision was to be postponed by half a year.
Just now my mother called that she got a call from our lawyer. The judge has, unexpectedly, passed a judgement. In our favour. My parents can buy the house for the price my uncle offered it originally for (since then my father has offered to pay up to 100k more). Our lawyer didn't know the details yet. She got a phonecall from my aunt's lawyer, who will also email all the documents to her, and she'll email them to my parents.
Not just that, but in June/July last year we had a agreement with my uncle of buying it, which, when the papers were ready to be signed, my uncle suddenly decided he wouldn't do anyway (blaming it on my aunt for an invalid reason). The judge has given us a chance to give all the documents to the court so they would rule about that, too. But we're not going to do that. It would take time, money and stress. Only to be able to have the courts tell us our uncle was in the wrong.
My uncle can appeal, a cassation. However, he would not only need to hire a special, very expensive lawyer, he would also have to pay the court thousands of euros to start that appeal/cassation. And iirc they wouldn't look at the verdict, but only look if the previous judge has made any mistakes.
I'm sitting here shaking. I haven't got any booze to celebrate. So I'm going to have some iced tea and a garlic bread to celebrate (the on-park store is closed and I'm not trusting myself enough atm to cycle two miles to the nearest supermarket).
My sister is coming over on Saturday and we have planned to go visit a nearby town. We're going to celebrate then.
But first: I have to take the bell off my bicycle. It seems a squirrel has discovered it this morning and regularly rings it now.
