Yes, the latest beta has the support for Kobo firmware 4.17.13694. But, you don't need this. You should have gotten an warning message when you connected the device. That contains details of how to avoid this problem. It will be perfectly safe to do this. And, when it happens for another firmware version, I recommend looking in the Kobo forum for the thread discussing the new firmware version. I will post in that the status of the updates and if there are any problems with doing this.
