Basil Thompson's 8 "Richardson" detective novels follow the career of a Scotland Yard Detective, Richardson from Constable to high rank. In this, his first case, he is a uniform constable in London, and his inspired work so impresses his superiors that at the end of the novel he is told he is to be moved into the CID as a detective.
The 8 cases are:
PC Richardson’s First Case (1933)
Richardson Scores Again (1934) – US: Richardson’s Second Case
Inspector Richardson CID (1934) US: The Case of Naomi Clynes
Richardson Goes Abroad (1935)― US: The Case of the Dead Diplomat
Richardson Solves a Dartmoor Mystery, (1935)― US: The Dartmoor Enigma
Death in the Bathroom (1936) – US: Who Killed Stella Pomeroy?
Milliner’s Hat Mystery (1937) – US: The Mystery of the French Milliner
A Murder Arranged (1937) – US: When Thieves Fall Out
Dust jacket images are scarce; so I made this one up using an old postcard showing the Scottish baronial New Scotland Yard premises on the Embankment.
