I'm sure it fits your narrative to think that, but there
are some actual aesthetic advantages to kfx. Content creators strive to meet the criteria necessary so their books can be converted to KFX without problems. Why would they choose to do this when they could just throw a wrench in the works to prevent conversion (not that a few don't do this, as well)?

I doubt the law is quite as black and white as you want it to be, here. Besides... it's been a long time since Amazon billed ebooks as "DRM Free" on their site. You might see "Simultaneous Device Usage: Unlimited" though.
